Meet the 2023 Ford Explorer

May 17th, 2023 by

Spacious enough to seat seven yet rugged enough to traverse off-road terrains, the 2023 Ford Explorer offers the best of both worlds when it comes to comfort and versatility. All three of its powerful engine options are ready for adventures, whether that means taking to highways or backwoods trails, while the latest in cutting-edge technology can be found throughout its entertainment, navigation, and safety monitoring systems.

Performance

Offering both strong engine performance and off-road versatility, the 2023 Explorer combines available Intelligent 4WD with your choice between three engine options. Two gas engines, a 300-horsepower four-cylinder and a 400-horsepower V6, are available for those looking for quick acceleration and strong towing.

The four-cylinder can haul up to 5,300 pounds when fully equipped and the V6 can achieve a hefty 5,600 pounds. However, there’s also a gas-electric hybrid V6 that impressively manages to offer a 5,000-pound max towing capacity and 318 horsepower along with excellent fuel efficiency.

Interior

Inside the Explorer’s cabin, you’ll find plenty of luxury and comfort, from the heated, perforated leather seating to the twin-panel moonroof, and if you’d like to set a particular mood, the available ambient lighting feature provides up to seven different colors to choose from.

Illuminated scuff plates are available to light the entranceways, and temperature can be controlled not only by the driver but also by second-row passengers with the rear auxiliary climate control.

Technology

At the heart of this edition’s technology is its SYNC 3 system, which is an all-in-one solution for entertainment, multimedia playback, app access, and navigation assistance. This system teams with both the 360-degree camera system and either of the two available B&O audio systems, allowing you to view your surroundings when on trails with the available 10.1-inch touch screen or scroll through song selections and change volume settings using your voice.

Parking is made simpler with the Active Park Assist 2.0 system, which takes over steering, accelerating, and braking to maneuver the Explorer into available parking spaces.

Safety

Along with Pre-Collision Assist, a forward monitoring collision-avoidance system, there’s also Automatic Emergency Braking, which can stop the vehicle on its own when you’re unable to do so to prevent collisions.

Not only does the Adaptive Cruise Control feature adjust the vehicle’s speed to match traffic, but it also uses cameras to keep the vehicle centered within its lane at all times. With Trailer Sway Control, brake pressure is automatically applied to individual wheels while reducing engine output if your vehicle begins to sway side to side due to improperly loaded cargo or excessive speed.

Few SUVs offer a first-class cabin experience alongside off-road capabilities, but the 2023 Explorer does so easily and with a wide array of advanced driver-assist features as well.
