You don’t have to travel far from Adel, GA to enjoy outdoor recreation. This Cook County town boasts acres of public green space, including a Georgia state park within the town limits. Spend the next pleasant day at one of our four favorite local parks.

Reed Bingham State Park

You can visit one of Georgia’s spectacular state parklands right here in Adel. Reed Bingham State Park has a 375-acre lake that’s popular for fishing and boating, with kayak and canoe rentals available on-site. You might spot an alligator, nesting bald eagle, indigo snake, or gopher tortoise as you explore this park.

Hike the Coastal Plain Nature Trail to experience the city’s diverse natural habitat or observe a spruce pine, tupelo, and cypress forest with a bike ride on the Little River Trail. Reed Bingham State Park is located at 542 Reed Bingham Rd. It’s open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and parking costs $5 per vehicle. You can also reserve a tent camping site with a full electricity hookup. 

City Park

This Adel park has everything you need for a fun family day. City Park features a gazebo, walking path, playground, and three covered picnic pavilions with barbecue grills. You’ll also appreciate the convenient public restrooms. City Park is located on S Parrish Ave between 8th St and 9th St. You can visit seven days a week from dawn to dusk.

Massee Post Rd Complex and Park

Adel’s main public sports complex features lighted soccer, baseball, softball, and T-ball fields. While you’re there for a game, take your kids to the playground and grab a snack at the concession stand. The adjacent park includes a picnic area and open space for play. Massee Post Rd Complex and Park is located at the intersection of Massee Post Rd and E Mitchell St. It’s open from dawn to dusk seven days a week.

Jim Battle Park

If you’re having a family event, consider renting the public facilities at Jim Battle Park for an enjoyable day. Visitors can take advantage of the covered picnic pavilions, each with its own barbecue grill. Jim Battle Park also has a basketball court, baseball field, public restrooms, playground, and open space. Adel often holds community events here, especially in the spring and summer months.

Jim Battle Park is named for its founder, who started it as a baseball field for the local African-American community in the 1960s. The park is located at 700 N Elm St. It’s open all week long from sunrise to sunset.
