4 Fall Activities You Can Drive to Near Adel, GA

Adel, GA and surrounding towns have lots of fun fall activities. Don’t let the season pass without checking out at least one of our favorite local ways to spend a crisp autumn day.

Reed Bingham State Park

You don’t even have to leave Adel to visit one of Georgia’s beautiful state parks. Reed Bingham State Park covers more than 1,600 acres, including a 375-acre lake. When you visit in the fall, you can see the changing colors of the autumn leaves. The park has RV, trailer, and tent campsites as well as a primitive paddle-in campground that sleeps 30 people.

You might spot some of the local wildlife during your visit, like vultures, alligators, nesting bald eagles, indigo snakes, and gopher tortoises. Spend time hiking the Coastal Plain Nature Trail, which showcases about 80% of the region’s native plant species. Reed Bingham State Park is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Parking costs $5 per car. The park is located at 542 Reed Bingham Rd.

Fall Festival at Rutland Farms

This Tifton farm holds Fall Festival days every Saturday from September 30 through October 28. The seasonal celebrations feature a corn maze, pumpkin picking, face painting, a petting zoo, hayrides, and refreshments.

Rutland Farms is about a 20-minute drive from Adel at 5641 Union Rd. Admission to the Fall Festival costs $14 for ages 3 to 64 and $11 for seniors ages 65 and older. It’s free for younger children.

Trick or Treat in the Village at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture

This museum features a Historic Village where you can step back in time to the 19th century, with restored exhibits that depict the era’s homes, workshops, and businesses. Kids can trick or treat at the village on Saturday, October 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Georgia Museum of Agriculture is located in Tifton, so it’s just a short trip.

Admission to the museum includes the trick-or-treat event and costs $12 for adults ages 17 and older, $10 for seniors, and $8 for children. Kids 4 and younger can enter for free. The Georgia Museum of Agriculture is located at 1392 Whiddon Mill Rd.

Grand Bay Wildlife Management Area

Located less than a half hour from Adel in Valdosta, this wildlife management area is a popular place for fall fishing, hunting, hiking, and boating. The preserve is free to enter, and it’s open on weekends from dawn on Saturday until sunset on Sunday. You’ll find Grand Bay Wildlife Management Area at 4649 Knight Academy Rd.
